Hey guys, I think what you are doing is absolutely fantastic! One thing I would do though, speaking from someone who has had some experince in field work digging up ancient artifacts is to categorize (maybe using the latest GPS Tech.) exactly where you found the items if you are not doing this already. Reason being is eventually, you can match up other paraphenalia to a location that could make it easier to distribute when you find those lucky match ups. Just a thought but great job!

Thanks Mike! Most of the photos are just coming into the site from people who discover them and drop them off at some of the dropoff locations. I found over 20 on the Drury campus … over 65 miles away. The ones we know where they are from really are tagged. We only have a handful up on site … over 20,000 more to go! We are looking at loading them in a couple of different locations also doing public viewings for the ones that came from specific locations.

Next step is to finish cataloging and uploading to a searchable database … all we need is a few more hands 🙂 and a LOT more time. V

Hi Barb,
If you want to volunteer you can call Angela or Thad … their numbers are on the contact page and under dropoff locations!!

Folks,
I just read about this project and I am touched and deeply moved by what you are doing. You are not only helping rebuild memories for those directly affected by the disaster in Joplin, but you are a downright inspiration to all of us reading the story! What a great, kind thing to undertake.
How can we help?

Just wanted to tel you what you guys are doing is awesome. As a Hurricane Charlie survivor who lost a lot of her past, this is a more than wonderful gift to these people. Keep up the good work and God bless!
